Orwak Easi UK Ltd are leading suppliers of waste management equipment in the UK and we have worked closely with the Sonno Group Limited to save around £210,000 per year.

The Challenge
Sonno Group were producing large amounts of plastic and cardboard. Some of which was going into a RoRo (Roll on, Roll Off) skip but a lot of it was being transported to a waste management facility and it was costing a lot of money.
We were challenged with finding a way to reduce the volume and the costs.
We started by conducting a site survey to see the their current waste set up, check out the costs and find a solution that can improve what they already do. An added bonus is if we can also save a company time, space and money.
The Solution
After conducting the site survey we installed 2 x Orwak Power 3820 balers. One for plastic and one for cardboard. These powerful balers produce millsize bales of up to 500kg; perfect for waste handlers.
As a results of the install and 2 week free trial we eliminated the the transport costs and drastically reduced the amount of waste going into the RoRo.
We also put the Sonno Group Ltd in touch with a local recycler who was willing to pay them a rebate for their baled materials – turning their waste into a revenue instead of a cost.
The Process
- Site Survey – we conducted to see their current set up, explored their current costs and came up with a solution that we thought would work for them.
- Free 2 Week Trial – we offered Sonno Group Limited the option to trial the machines for 2 weeks for free. This enabled them to see if the solution would actually work for them.
- Complete Package – with no hidden fees our lease package includes; the baler, delivery, installation, training, annual service, callouts, labour and parts.
- On-Going Support – we offer on-going support with all our deals. This can be via the sales representative or directly through our dedicated customer service, consumable and service departments.
The Results

As a result of saving on transport costs and waste removal and the bales of cardboard and plastic being removed regularly by a local recycling company Sonno Group Limited’s estimated savings are around at least £210,000 a year.
Revenue For Recyclables
As Sonno Group Limited can produce 500kg bales in their new balers they can get the best rebate rates from recyclers. They are now making money from the bales and have turned a waste cost into revenue.
Labour and Space Saving
Sonno Group Limited are no longer having to break down their cardboard or transport their recyclables to a waste management facility; eliminating double handling.On top of that they no longer have loads of skips and trucks taking up space. The bales are stored neatly and take up much less space.
