Supalite’s Waste Revolution with Orwak
Supalite’s waste revolution with Orwak is something we are proud to share with you.
SupaLite designs and manufactures conservatory roof systems that deliver on both performance and style. Their solutions replace inefficient polycarbonate or glass conservatory roofs – providing superior thermal performance, reduced glare, and modern aesthetics.
Background
Before partnering with Orwak, Supalite faced significant inefficiencies in their waste management process. Cardboard was manually broken down and stored in a large outdoor cage, awaiting loose collection by recyclers. Meanwhile, all plastic waste was disposed of in a general waste RoRo container—resulting in no recycling, no rebates, and no baling equipment on site.

The Trial Phase
To explore a more efficient and sustainable solution, Supalite trialled the Orwak Compact 3120 baler. The goal was twofold:
• Assess the baler’s capacity for handling cardboard.
• Gain visibility into the volume of plastic waste, which had previously gone unmeasured.
During the trial, it became clear that while the 3120 performed well, a more versatile solution might be needed. Based on early results, the Orwak Multi 5070—a double-chamber baler—was recommended as a better long-term fit, offering dedicated chambers for both cardboard and plastic.
Implementation
The trial was a success. Supalite’s team appreciated the efficiency and ease of use of the 3120, but ultimately opted for the Multi 5070 due to its dual-chamber design. An ex-rental unit was purchased immediately, and the 3120 was swapped out.
Training was provided to staff, with visual documentation and a bale-out video shared to support onboarding and best practices.

Results
The transformation was immediate and impactful:
✅ 100% of recyclable cardboard and plastic is now baled on-site and sent for recycling.
❌ 0% of recyclable materials go to landfill.
Key Benefits
• Operational Efficiency:
Significant man-hours saved through reduced handling and processing of waste.
• Health & Safety Improvements:
Fewer collections on-site and a cleaner, safer environment with minimal loose waste—reducing trip hazards and potential injuries.
• Financial Gains:
Lower costs for waste containers and collections, plus new revenue from rebates on baled materials.
• Environmental Impact:
Full alignment with circular economy principles—no more recyclables in landfill.
Conclusion
Supalite’s adoption of the Orwak Multi 5070 has not only streamlined their waste management but also delivered measurable environmental and financial benefits. This case exemplifies how the right equipment and support can turn waste challenges into sustainability success stories.
