Environmental Goals – Coopers Fire
Environmental Goals – Coopers Fire Case Study

When we knocked on the door at Coopers Fire in Waterlooville, it was clear from the outset that their Environmental Credentials are one of the biggest factors on their agenda. Every month reporting and comparing on the month before of where their waste was going and how much was being diverted from general waste. The percentages were up in the 90’s so they were pretty much nailing it already.
As with a lot of businesses, when we mentioned baling recyclables, they said they’d investigated it already, but it wasn’t viable for them. This was because they had looked into a mill-size baler which would have been way too big for their volumes of waste.
When we explained that over 75% of our customers have the small to medium size solutions from our range, a free trial was arranged and this is what Simon Hall, Health & Safety and Environmental Advisor had to say about it…
“Perfect sized balers”
‘We had looked at balers before, but these were mill-size balers, and it was not a viable option for our size of company. Orwak have been able to provide the perfect size balers for our cardboard and soft plastic waste streams, From the initial meeting to demonstration and installation, Melissa at Orwak has been a pleasure to deal with. Tailoring the machines to our unique requirements.’
And finally, their all-important environmental credentials, as our solution has cut their carbon footprint on recyclable waste by such a substantial amount, they were previously filling twelve 1100ltr bins with polythene and a front end loading skip weekly with cardboard.
‘From an off-chance meeting to having 2 balers installed, we have cut our reliance on our waste carrier along with enhancing our green initiatives. We can now deal directly with a recycling company for our cardboard and soft plastic waste, reducing the cost and carbon emissions in the recycling process by a huge amount.’
It is a great example of finding the right solution for a customer over selling them the biggest, most expensive machine we could.
